MONDAY 14th

MONDAY 14th January

I have nothing of great worth to add to the Blog at this time. However I thought it good to let you all know that we are continuing. The next few days will be more than interesting if not challenging.

School opened this morning with about 50% of our students still not attending - probably not even in Town. However classes began and the day passed quietly..
Tomorrow Parliament opens - some trouble expected in the House with the Opposition still intending to take the Government seats in the house. Still strong intention to also rally the Country as from Wednesday in marches all over the place including here in Eldoret. One of our grounds staff whose wife and children are living a hundred kilometres away has just called in to say he has been told trouble may strike his home and he has had to hurry home to try and ensure the safety of his family.....so the rumours and unrest in people's minds and hearts continue.

I was in Town with Daryl this morning. Just as busy as usual but there is still a very definate tension, and many vehicles piled up with furniture and people who seem to be hurrying off somewhere. The same yet NOT the same. Last night we took our daughter Elisabeth and our two grandchildren out to supper at a Chinese Restaurant that is run by one of our School parents. The area which is usually seething with night life was almost empty but the Restaurant was crammed with expatriates - mainly Red Cross and U.N people!! I have never seen so many white faces in one place in eldoret ever before.

Some isolated gunfire during the night last night but no reports of trouble.

Tomorrow Elisabeth is hoping to fly from here to Nairobi about 3p.m. our time. We are trusting all will continue peaceful, and that she will be able to spend a happy few days with her Aunt and Uncle in Ngong - about 40 ks from Nairobi.

We continue to wait upon the Lord without anxiety, trusting in His Ability to Keep and Protect us all. Hallelujah

Much love to you all in His Powerful Name

John and Esther
