SATURDAY 12th JANUARY
Loving Greetings in Jesus! We are all continuing so far peacefully - you will have heard generally that things have not yet been completely resolved. The THREE African Leaders trying to mediate FAILED and left, rather as President Bush left Israel without helping to produce any Peace Agreement. The Opposition still planning demonstrations again, and this threatens to erupt once more in Nairobi next week after the opening of Parliament. So everyone still in prayer. Meanwhile the 'government' continues to settle down to govern! It is all rather strange in a way, unreal, somehow a childish nightmare.
All through this period Testimony Faith Homes has continued to function and all the children have remained virtually undisturbed. It has really seemed as if we are cut off from the rest of the world, and all its anxieties. Apart from some three days when things were at their worse in the Town, and people were running for their lives or staying in their houses, our BUILDING program for the new Guest Hostel continued, and still are continuing. We are now awaiting the Ring Beam being put in place.
We had the School Staff Meeting this morning at 9.a.m. The majority of our teachers including Zac Mbatiah and Susan Iraya whose homes had been burnt to the ground, and who had fled out of Eldoret were all in attendance. It was good to see them and we had good fellowship together with them across all cultural, racial and even political boundaries in the spirit of Colossians 3v11-
SCHOOL will commence hopefully on Monday morning although we are uncertain just how many of last years students will actually turn up.
Elisabeth is due to fly out from Eldoret to Nairobi on TUESDAY morning together with her two children Rachel and John-Finny. She will remain just outside of the City staying with our sister and her husband until she flies out to UK on the 18th. Please remember to pray for their safety.
Today the Lord provided enough money for us to buy shoes for those of our children who were seriously in need - some £340s worth. Just in time for School. Uniforms (we usually only buy one of each necessary garment which has to do for the whole year per child) are also awaiting purchase, and some may have to look a bit grubby to begin with. So many things face us at the commencement of a year and especially the FIRST term of the year. Our two trainee TEACHERS have been provided for, and they will be on the way to their College on Monday. Quite a few others in the line waiting..... The Lord will provided in His own time according to His purpose, and this is always met with patience and faith - a chance to refresh our ability to BELIEVE all together.
And of course this year we have been unable to ignore the extra needs placed upon the majority of our local staff who have been so badly hit by the troubles. We cannot refuse to be involved in their problems, and so are doing our best to share Father's Provision to us also with them - what a privilege that is for us.
Thank you all those that are continuing to pray and lift us up to the Throne of Grace, and all those who also have shared with us their own provision in Jesus Name.
Love to you till next time
John and Esther
