A RISING STAR?

MANY YEARS AGO WHEN THE MAN IN THIS PHOTO WAS A LECTURER AT MOI UNIVERSITY,   Esther and I met both him and his wife.    We have not been close friends, but YES, I think we can say that we have not forgotten each other either.     We have met at various functions, eaten together on occasion, and their children attend Testimony School.    We have always esteemed James and his wife.  Both of them are very intelligent, and James in particular impressed us as a man both lucid in communication and clear sighted in his thinking.
He and his wife are both very committed Christians, outspoken and very visible in their Christian Testimony and Witness.

He has risen to be a Professor James Kiyiapi, and has since October 2010 been Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education.     He has now announced his intention to run for President, the highest office in the land, at the next General Election.      To do this he has to resign his Government Job, and this he has now done and Registered his Party - RBK (Restore and Build Kenya).   But he is by no means a front runner - he comes from a comparatively small tribal community unlike the current main contenders.     He does not command wealth as his competitors do.     Does he have any real hope of winning?
He has over the last few months made various statements such as the ones now quoted below.

Capital News   -   February 2012
'My running for president has nothing to do with the other people running.   My running is because I have a vision for Kenya; I believe it is a cause for our nation.   It is about leadership and destiny of the nation and I am offering my service as a public official who has served Kenyans all these years'

'There comes a time when it is necessary to be bold enough and have the courage to express your opinion in a way everybody will understand.   It is a very clear that the successes and challenges our Kenyan people are facing are of great significance to any leader wishing to pursue justice and the needs of the citizens and that is why I am embarking on this journey.'

Professor Kiyiapi was born on 17th May 1961.    As a University Don and well known motivational speaker, with years of political public service experience as a Permanent Secretary, he is more qualified to run than any that preceded him.     He is still a young man with a youthful personality and appeal.     He feels that the youth of Kenya need to be given opportunity and encouragement to harness their energy and expertise to BUILD the Nation.      Many are leaving Kenya for greener fields overseas, discouraged in believing they have a prosperous and meaningful future here.    Kiyiapi believes and feels otherwise - that there is a hope and future for them here in Kenya.  If he can get his vision before the young people of Kenya in a way that can draw their attention and belief - then  who knows what might happen.

Testimony Faith Homes is not a political organisation or society of any kind.     We shall take no part in the Professor's Campaign in any way.    BUT we shall be praying for him because we see that it may well be that he could be a breath of fresh air from a very unbiased quarter, that might be just what the doctor ordered to lift us all up into a new era of hope and spiritual revival.   You might like to pray along with us?

IT IS RAINING.     We hope it is the beginning of the LONG rain.      If not we are still very glad of it, and it will surely help us all to see the soil come to life again.     We also received promise of a little finance this week which will certainly assist us in other more material and immediate ways to make ends meet.      Still waiting the advent of our third cow's calf - any day now!

We do hope that you all received and were able to print out our Awareness Leaflet sent a few weeks back?     Did not hear from more than four of you, but we trust it did manage to get through.      We have been advised there was ONE error noticed on it.    On what should fold to become the 'back 'page   it is written that 'in JUNE 2012' Daryl was appointed as Director Overall In fact this should be corrected to 2011.      We managed to correct the remaining printing.    We have also just posted another 200 copies to friends that are unable to access the Internet or E-mail.
This leaves us with about 800 to distribute in our locale.      We hope the Lord will use this outreach at this time.       We hope, if you are able, you will also hand on or even print more leaflets to hand on in order to increase awareness of this little known ministry.   Prayer changes things, and if we can get MORE prayer behind and with us we know the Holy Spirit will move on our behalf.

SCHOOL shut yesterday for the April Holiday - just two weeks.

God Bless you all.      We do pray for you ourselves.    We all need encouragement and strength to face each day.     We realise this, and we have great need to remember each other and to pray for each other .

Lovingly in Jesus

John and Esther
